Jake also seemed to be unaffected by the heat. "Y'all need to exercise more. Aqua, you need to join Trevor and me on some of our gym visits!" Some, not all. While he enjoyed the thought of more without partners, he still wanted some private sessions with Trevor. Once they made it to the first landing, he took a breather and looked around. It did look kinda drab. "Is everything still in working order?" He questioned the fairy.

Aqua laughed slightly. "Jake I work out tons. I just have good Ki control to maintain my 'girlish' figure. I have thigh muscles that could crush your head." She joked with him.
Aqueena looked a bit surprised. "Remind me not to challenge you to an arm wrestling contest or something." To which Aqua laughed a little at.
Once at the next floor, looking around, Charcoal nodded at Jake's question "They all should be, but they won't respond to anyone who isn't the Sage of Fire. Since the gates go to a number of dangerous places, we dont have a backdoor system for them. We wouldn't want someone to wander somewhere and get lost."

Jake just shook his head at Aqua. Like some pipsqueak like her could be a nutcracker! He nodded his head to Charcoal after she said her piece. "Yeah. I suppose it would be a bad idea to have a couple of kids accidentally make their way down to the Lake of Fire." Jake chuckled.

Aqua didn't look amused at Jake's response. "Oh, I get it. You don't think I can! Well fine, I accept your offer. I'll show you!"
"Excatly, you never know what could happen. Though we've yet to use them since before the imprisonment, so they haven't been properly used in a long time. Though that shouldn't be an issue, so long as they aren't destroyed." Charcoal explained.
Aqueena nodded. "So long as the gateways remain intact, and power flows in the temple, they should have no trouble functioning, even if it's been a while."

Jake chuckled at Aqua. Bait successfully taken! Fish on! "We'll settle that later." Jake noted to her, returning to the tour. "So where do these take you? If they were working, that is." Jake inquired. He didn't have the Sage's seal so that was going to have to wait until he made up his mind -- which required the daunting process of having a meeting with Kavisto. Oooof.

"Each of these gateways all lead to one of the Powered Human Realms. For example, the ruby gate leads to Ragnarok, otherwise known as the Fire Human Realm, the sapphire leads to Nevilhim, or the Water Human Realm, and so on. One leads to the Realm of Monsters, and a few lead to what are called Gateway Temples, which are more like outpost temples for the Sages to use for tactical reasons, or long distance travel. Though nearly all the Powered Human Realms are wastelands, so no one really goes to them, or live there. The Monster Realm is normally off limits, due to a peace treaty in place, so travel there from the Sage temples is restricted to formal meetings." Charcoal explained.
"How come there's no gates to the Demon Realms?" Aqua asked.
"Thats because when the Sage temples were built, the Demons did not yet exist. They were all created by Solus the Sol Demon, so their Realms were not apart of our world at the time. And for the most part, they keep to their own Realms, so we don't have formal connections to them." Aqueena explained.
"Excatly." Charcoal added.

"Demons definitely keep to their own affairs. They take their kings pretty seriously, and you're honestly not going to find a Demon Realm without one." Jake noted, regurgitating a few facts he learned from his brief studying of their files. "For awhile there, demons were the worst of our worries when it came to keeping Power under wraps. Some of them would get... bored. Dangerously bored. And they'd always be loons..." Jake rolled his eyes. "But despite that, they somehow clung onto their realms where we were unable to. Just a fact of life I suppose." He shook his head. Maybe the lack of kings were the issue? He offhand knew that Skylos was technically the Light Human king... Had there ever been a Fire Human king? When was the last time? "Well, I suppose there's not much to say about the Monster Realm at this point... It doesn't really sound like somewhere I want to visit anyway." It really didn't have an inviting name...

"I think the reason the Demon Realms have stayed intact so long is because they've yet to deal with a calamitous event like the Power Human Realms...Not like what happened on Terra 2 anyway." Charcoal started.
"Because of this Ragoul guy, right?" Aqua asked.
"Yeah...I read about him in the temples library. Part of a Sages job is keeping record of history of their people, so the record of what happened is recorded there. I assume the other Sages that were involved have their own accounts." Charcoal explained, though she could probably elaborate if asked. She then turned to Jake's other comment. "Its not so much of an unpleasant Realm, just a place creatures that don't fall into the standard categories of Human and Demons fall into. Like myself for example. They aren't all bad, like the term would suggest. Apparently monsters used to live in this world long ago, but their King created a Realm to keep them safe. At least on Terra 2. Not all Terra have a Realm for their monster kind. But for Terra 2, in its far past, Human kind couldn't get along with monster kind, and they were hunted for their differences...I suppose Terra 2 is cursed that way."

Jake nodded his head. Demons seemed to get the lucky end of the stick, but he knew there was more to it than that. There had been a time that all of the Light, Darkness, and Void Demons were basically locked away. Come to think of it, the France Group had fixed that somehow as well... But anyway. It wasn't all smiles and sunflowers for them.
"I could use a refresher on Ragoul. That wasn't really someone Kavisto had records on." And he nodded to Charcoal's explanation of the Realm. "I guess Creature Realm doesn't sound much better. It's hard to come up with an umbrella term that doesn't have a negative connotation behind it." He rubbed the back of his head. "It's probably a technology kind of thing. The more advanced you get, the less you lean on nature."

"Theres not much to be done about it either. Bridging the gap between different human types are tough enough as they are." Charcoal commented in response.
"According to the records in the Fire Temple, Ragoul has been around since the dawn of power...Though some of this information is from imprisonment interviews, so there's only so much confirmed as fact." She snapped her fingers, as a book appeared in the air, floating using her fairy magic. She turned to a page in the book, discussing Ragoul. "'When power was first born into this world there were many more powers then there are now. In that time I was given the power of Spirit by the flow of power, to which I named myself a Spirit Human. The only of my kind.' He apparently explained in an interview about what he even was. Now we don't fully understand the limits of what this Spirit Power can do, but we do know that those powers allowed him to seal and bind the Elementals to his will, or to the wills of his proxies. He used the four main Elementals powers to change himself into a Pure Elemental Human."
"That sounds highly dangerous..." Aqua said.
"It is. A single powered human weilding Pure power like that is already not for the faint of heart. How Ragoul managed to control four times that or more sounds insane." Aqueena commented.
"Apparently in his time, that power was unrivaled. Once he had control of the Elementals power, and started creating Pure Humans, that plunged the Powered Realms into chaos, and led to their destruction. The raw Elemental power so far out of balance caused a lot of lasting damage to the realms. According to the records, that was around the time most of powered kind came to live on earth, as the Sages helped move them there." Charcoal continued.
"Our records are similar. Apparently when this conquest reached its climax, the Sages and remaining Elementals combined forces to seal away Ragoul to the best of their ability, since he seemed immortal by standard means of combat." Aqueena added.

"There have been reports of others from the Dawn of this Reality still living, so it doesn't surprise me if there are others that are just as old." At that point, Jake figured age didn't really matter to them. He listened to the records Charcoal read, and kept quiet as the others chatted about Ragoul's past influence. Wrecking the realms was really bad... "How did he get out? Just too strong for it to hold?"

"According to my records, it as less that he was so old, and more that...he was unable to die." Aqueena commented.
"According to the records, it seemed that over time his body just...absorbed the energy of the seal placed on him in the prison of the Temple of Twilight. It wasn't known that something like that was possible at the time, so with the help of the at time Lunar Demon King, they devised a new seal based on Lunar energy. This seemed to work, until he corrupted Sati." Charcoal explained.
"Remind me again, what happened with Sati? I wasn't directly involved with the event." Aqua asked.
"While she was Sage of Fire, she was involved in the recapture of Ragoul when he broke free. But apparently he lured her in with the promise of power past being a Sage, since she was looking for ways to prevent more conflicts and danger. He showed her how to steal the Fire Elementals power, and then possessed her. When she was sealed away though, the connection with the Fire Elemental wasn't severed, which is why the Elemental was also imprisoned." Charcoal answered.

"Problems compounding one on top of the other." Jake then commented dryly. With the Fire Elemental now free, hopefully things would return to some normalcy. It was also a shame that Sati thought that she could take a shortcut to success. Those always end up being far too good to be true. And it cost her everything. Using Lunar for a seal was an interesting idea. Lunar was the concept of Life, so it must have been why the energies that made up Ragoul were able to be kept at bay by it. Or so he imagined. Jake was far from being a researcher. He left all that to Kavisto.

"Ragoul seems to just be a problem with no solution. He doesn't even have his own body anymore, and he still continues to be a problem. Its more than likely the reasoning behind the Fire Elementals sudden choice for a Sage. I doubt it wants to be imprisoned a third time." Aqueena suggested.
"Its not easy tracking a spirit. They don't really have auras..." Charcoal said to herself.

This kind of talk reminded Jake of the movies where the crazy scientist would whip out a tool to track down ghosts or spirits. Funny enough, it probably wouldn't end well if Jake managed to find Ragoul by himself, not unlike most of those types of shows. He had no Lunar in his arsenal, nor any idea how to use it even if he did. "I'm sure we'll come up with something."

"Right now we active Sages are guarding the Elementals, and Surt in the place of a Fire Sage for now. Hopefully the Master Sage can think of something more effective." Aqueena commented.
Charcoal looked around as the conversation seemed to conclude. "Well thats about all that's here. Theres a bit more upwards and more downwards too."

"Sorry not all of us are able to be so comfortable around a pillar of lava." Aqua grumbled.
Charcoal just led the way again up more stairs, as they would've come into a similar shaped room. There were four branching hallways, but the room was full of bookshelves and other strange looking instruments and devices. "This floor is mostly the library and study."

Jake just stuck his tongue out at Aqua. Once they arrived at the library, he yawned slightly. "Something about books and fire being in the same place kind of worries me. But I'm not a bookworm, so I'll just assume the books have protection and not worry myself over it too much."

"The books do have a fire enchantment on them to prevent them from catching fire in this environment, yes. But that wouldn't protect them from being intentionally set on fire with high level fire power or being dropped in lava." Charcoal explained.
"That makes sense I suppose, if the power is stronger than the seal. So who writes the books themselves? The Sages?" Aqua asked.
"To my knowledge, the Sages do write most of the older books, since it was a Sages job to archive the history of their people, should no one else exist to do it." Charcoal answered.

It would be quite an undertaking to write up entire books on history. There would be gaps at this point, Jake figured, since Ignus had been stuck in here and not really living the history. Though he supposed not a lot had been happening as a result of that... What would be interesting would be if the information here could be transcribed so that others could read it. It would also be a good idea in case the enchantments ever did fail. He would need several people to help with such a task... Didn't Kavisto have some brainy people he could ask? "Sounds like we need a scribe." Jake commented. He certainly wasn't going to pen them himself. At least find a typewriter...
|
|
|
Post by Aqua on Oct 23, 2022 13:24:42 GMT -5
Aqueena nodded. "A scribe would probably be very useful. The previous Sage of Water had instructed me that should help be needed for my role, that I could appoint whoever I needed for help with the various tasks of Sage. He used to archive the accounts in his youth, when time wasn't spent as much when it came to protecting people, and then passed that role onto his assistant when people needed his help more." She then looked to her sister. "Honestly, I thought one day, when you were old enough, you'd be able to help me."
Aqua looked surprised. "Really? Well...maybe if things calm down in the future. I'm kinda in the same boat as Jake. We are spread somewhat thin right now."
Charcoal didn't seem to care much about what Aqueena had to say, focusing on Jake more so. "Ignus had tried to employ some of those that lived in the village outside to help him with tasks he could not preform. Myself, I was responsible to trying to check up on other Terra, since it wasn't so easy to just hop over to the Nexus. It was highly dangerous. But without proper help and the limits in place, we couldn't do as much as we liked. So what I mean to say is there's no rule to how many people you have working as assistants. Most Sages in our Order just tend to use one, due to their experience, and workload. I'm sure Sages of other Terra have a system in place...And assistants can be anyone you trust. They don't need to be fire users exclusively. Ignus worked with Earth and Water Humans for select tasks on Terra 2, due to the lack of Fire Humans by comparison."
Aqueena nodded. "They don't need to be human either. Charcoal is a fairy of course, Raylu helped our Sage of Aura for a time, and Magneus' assistant is Zuika, who's...some kind of alien I think?"
"A humanoid bug alien from another planet, yes. Insectacada I think he said?" Aqua added.

Jake took in the back and forth between the two groups and found himself nodding along. He had not been so intimately involved with the France Group, so a lot of those details were lost on him. An...alien? Ooook... He didn't seem to think he was going to employ any aliens, mostly due to the fact that he didn't know any. He also wasn't planning to ask his crew; that was far too much to ask of them, and extremely boring from the sound of it. Granted, is it any different from Kavisto's paperwork? "In any case, it's not for one person to bear on their shoulders." Jake summarized.

"It all really depends on the state of things. But should you actually take on the role, I'd recommend it since you don't have a previous Sage to learn from directly. Theres no rule about having one or not, or how many you feel its wise to employ. But considering the state of affairs, I'm sure the Master Sage and Elemental expect it to take time." Aqueena explained.
"Well should Jake decide to take it, I think he'll do great. He's a great team leader, so picking the right team for the job is already in his skill set. A good team leader knows how much they can handle, and what they need others to do." Aqua said.

"Goodness Aqua. It sounds like you're already interviewing for my present job." Jake laughed. Granted, he was pretty sure Kavisto wouldn't be promoting anyone on his team to leader anytime soon. They were still pretty green behind the ears, at any rate. "Shall we move on?" Clearly he wasn't too interested in this room. Now those lovely stairs on the other hand...

"Oh goodness, I already have enough on my plate as it, I don't need to be a leader on top of that." Aqua said, laughing slightly.
"If your all ready, there's only two floors left upwards from here." Charcoal said, flying up the stairs. Once they would've reached the next floor, it would've had a similar layout as the main floor aside from being smaller. The same statues were in the corners, with the flames matching the statues in this room though. There were four very heavy duty looking doors, one on each wall of the room. "They are currently locked, but this floor is the Vault. Relics and other important items are stored here. If prisoners are in lockup, this is normally where their belongings are stored as well. Not many people can open them, you normally need the Sage's Medallion to enter the vault, but there are work arounds."

"Makes sense. You might need a certain Relic in an emergency after all." Jake had never owned a Relic. Those kinds of items were pretty rare, and it's not like people could make them. Or... well. Someone clearly could at some point in history. But anyway. He didn't have one. His trusty Fire Poi was all he needed! "Is there a lot stored here?"

|
Post by Aqua on Oct 27, 2022 16:14:32 GMT -5
Charcoal nodded. "There are some, but there haven't been many in the vault for a long time, due to how rare they are now. They break down, or become lost to time. Most of whats left abandoned by those that were once held here."

In which case, it was probably a teacup that self-heated to keep its tea warm. Jake nodded his head. It was nothing really to worry about. It also made the place less of a target -- not that he would be gloating to everyone in the world that he had a vault filled with Relics if he actually had one. "Alrighty." He said in confirmation that he had heard what she had to say on the matter.

Once it seemed there was nothing left to discuss on this floor, they would've headed to the last floor. Once they entered, they would've found themselves in a much smaller floor than all the others. It looked more like a personal space, almost like a one bedroom apartment. One of the walls was actually a one way window, looking out over the front of the temple. There were things like a bed, chair and bookshelf, a small kitchen area, and so on. Though it looked a little weird in the setting of a temple. Charcoal seemed hesitant to speak, which Aqueena picked up on, so she spoke. "Ah this seems to be the Sages personal chambers. The Water Temple has its chambers in the same location. They aren't ritzy, but they provide all you need."
