The tailor laughed at Zoe's casual usage of such phrases and of Mintrock's name pronunciation. He of course, had no clue what the accent was supposed to be as he had never heard of any such accent having lived in the Shadow Realm all his life. He nodded and lightly clapped, "you look very well," he said to Zoe. He sobered slightly and said, "though be careful around Mintrock he is not one to be trusted blindly, and can be somewhat unsavoury." The tailor led Zoe out of the back of the store and to Keera and Ponic.
Ponic blinked at Zoe for a moment and nodded approval. "Very nice," he said.
Keera smiled, "you look like a Shadow Wielder, now," she said, "I like it." Ponic moved to the tailor and gave him some money for the clothes. "My thanks, sir," he said and led Zoe out of the shop. The tailor bid them farewell as they left.
Ponic and Keera began to lead Zoe down the street in the direction of where Mintrock was known to stay. "Now remember," said Ponic, "Mintrock is not incredibly welcoming don't jump right to it, he'll know something is up. Ask about anything regarding Keera's parent's writings, but don't be too blunt, build up to it."
"Also try not to shoot the breeze with his people to much, better to get in, get what you need and go before something happens," said Keera.

Zoe was grinning. "Now I can pretend to be a Shadow Wielder with Markov! This'll be fun!" Then they were off again and Ponic was instructing her. She kept nodding and saying "Mmhm. Mmhm. Mmhm." When he was done and they were about there, she nodded again. "Gotchya, Ponic. You guys can count on me! I am now... the Shadow Spy!" She made her eyes shift around like a spy.
[I'm at work Dan, and will be stuck here until midnight, so I came on here on my lunch to leave you a post.]

(Merci Wends)
Ponic blinked and shook his head with a light laugh. "Yes...don't do that," he said. When they approached the outskirts of where Mintrock usually stayed Keera and Ponic nodded to Zoe. "Be careful," said Keera, "remember, we'll be in your shadow if you need us." With that Ponic and Keera both faded into Zoe's shadow and were gone from sight.
Before Zoe was a building in an area of the village that looked like it had seen better days. Most of the buildings in this area had boarded up windows and doors showing how much they looked as though they had been rejected and not properly maintained. There were still clear craters and left overs from the war, which meant this particular part of the village seemed to be on the low priorities list. The building before Zoe had a stone arch doorway and seemed to be in the best condition. The windows were dark but they at least weren't boarded up and the door was made of a thick wood. There didn't seem to be much movement around the building...

Zoe nodded to them both, now donning a more serious look as she cleared her throat. "Let's do this." She said under her breath as she began to walk forward. She entered the building and braced herself for what and who she would find inside...

Zoe would not get far into the building as she was intercepted by a very large looking Shadow Wielder. The good news was this one looked similar to Ponic and Keera with a few differences. His skin had a slightly lighter shade of black to it and the white in the eyes were a little less pronounced. Therefore this person was likely an Ulter, a Shadow Warrior. He'd at least be somewhat more reasonable than an Irate so that was a minor plus for Zoe. "What do you want?" he demanded not even asking Zoe what her name was.

Zoe yelped slightly upon being grabbed, but quickly regained her composure. "I'm here to get some information." She said. "I heard from around here that someone called Mintrock stays here often and that he knows all there is to know about Shadow Wielder history."

"No visitors without appointments," said the man, moving to lead Zoe out but he was quickly stopped by a voice from behind him.
"Otrin, is that how we treat our guests? How unfortunate, we'll need to have a talk about that," the man speaking stepped out from the shadows (yes irony intended hehe) and moved to Zoe. "You are here for me, are you?" This was clearly Mintrock. He had dark brown hair that was longer that hung over his head and covered his ears just stopping short of the eyes and just covering his forehead. He also had a some stubble and was wearing dark cloaks that seemed to blend in with the surroundings. Overall he had an air to him that bespoke that he worked outside of the bounds of the law. He was clearly a Velut, meaning he was a Shadow Wielder just like Ponic and Keera. "Come in, please," he led Zoe through the building and to a dining room, where there was a table and chairs inside. He gestured for her to sit. Where the outside of the house looked run down, the inside seemed quite luxurious and very well kept. The chairs were a fine polished wood and there were glasses in a nearby cupboard.
Mintrock reached in and gathered two glasses, handing one to Zoe. He then grabbed a bottle of Shadow Realm liquor, very powerful stuff and poured himself a guest. "May I interest you?" he asked her.
Remember, came Ponic's voice telepathically in Zoe's mind, subtlety is your friend. You're a scholar looking on Shadow Wielder history, like you said. Don't just jump right into Keera's parents, It would look too obvious.

Zoe heard Ponic's voice in her head, and without hesitation, she gave a small, polite smile to Mintrock, lifting her glass for him. "By all means." She said, making her tone sound like she was on friendly business. "So this must be the well-known Mintrock, then." She gave a small nod, showing interest in her face. "It is good to finally meet the scholar of Shadow Wielder history I have long been searching for."

"I am many things, I suppose a scholar is one of them," said Mintrock. Actually he was one of those folks who ran a lot of things on the dirty side of law, a black marketeer, really, although he wasn't going to say it out loud. "How did one who is clearly not from this realm hear of me?" he asked Zoe, filling her glass and then raising his in a toast.

Zoe raised her glass a long with him and took a sip on cue. She did her best not to choke on it and seem like she knew exactly what she was doing. "Honestly? I am a hunter as well as a scholar. When there is information I want, I go straight for the source. I wanted to start gathering information on Shadow Wielder history. So what better place to visit than the Shadow Realm?" She took another forced sip. "And who else would know better who to ask about their history than the Shadow Wielders themselves?" She pursed her lips, looking professional to her greatest ability.

"Indeed, what is it that interests you?" asked Mintrock, he seemed to just assume Zoe was interested in Shadow Wielder history just because she looked like a scholar, there was always a variety of reasons but he didn't seem to care overtly. There was something about him, however...why was someone that everyone had warned Zoe against acting so nice with her? Mintrock took a few sips of his glass as well, "quite strong stuff, careful with it," he said.

Zoe gently put down her glass and looked Mintrock in the eyes. "Well. How could you get more fascinating than those who call the very Shadows to their will?" She asked. "My powers are a trifle compared to many others out there. I also want to simply know all their is to know about all Power. And I do know that when it comes to Powered People, Shadow Wielders are one of the most unique." She doubted Mintrock could argue with anything she'd said there.

"Indeed, you are well informed, yes there is much that is unique among us," said Mintrock. "Of course such matters don't come cheaply as much of what I have does not have copies. Tell me what do you have to offer me in return?"
Zoe would get another prod in her mind, this one was from Keera. Anything of value at all, it doesn't have to be money, specifically.

Zoe kept on a straight face, though her mind silently began to reel. Something in return? What could he want!? She heard Keera's voice and it calmed her mind a bit. She began to think. "What else would be fair but information for information?" She took a stab at it. "You seem to be one who keeps to himself here in your own Realm. But would there be any information you'd like to have about outside your Realm?" She really didn't know if that offer would interest him at all. She was just taking a wild shot.

Mintrock paused considering. "Knowledge is good but most of my concerns are within this realm," he said. Looking at Zoe he continued, "Although there is something from out of realm that could interest me." Zoe would recognize the look in Mintrock's eyes...lust

It suddenly hit Zoe what Mintrock was getting at. She couldn't stop her eyes from widening a bit but she tried to keep her composure. Ponic! Keera! What do I do!? her inwardly panicked. Outwardly, she gave a controlled frown to Mintrock. "I suppose I was wrong to give you the high respectful status that I did in my head." She said, folding her arms, trying to look dignified while also making herself feel slightly more safe and secure. "Or maybe you can prove that theory wrong and do things like a gentleman?" She didn't know if this type of speech to be worthy to Mintrock or if it would just enrage him. She hoped the former...

Ponic and Keera did not answer just yet. Mintrock put his glass down and glared at Zoe. "Perhaps you are under the impression that I am bartering. We both have desires, but only one of us here have the power to see it through..."

Zoe narrowed her eyes and scowled. "Fine!" She said. "I'll cooperate if you first give me the information I came for!" She stood up, fists clenched on the table as she was giving Mintrock a rock-hard glare. She was using all her will not to break down. But she felt if this went on much longer she simply would.

"That's not how it works," said Mintrock, standing up, "first I get what I want, and then you get the information you have requested. You're in my world now, we do things my way." Mintrock began to move to Zoe when suddenly Ponic appeared in the shadow between Zoe and Mintrock. He grabbed Mintrock by the front of his shirt and glared at him.
"You're going to regret that," said Ponic in a low and dangerous voice. He threw Mintrock across the room against the wall.
Keera then appeared in Zoe's shadow, "come on, we'll do this the hard way," she said, grabbing Zoe's hand and leading her deeper into the building. They still needed to find the documents, but subtly had obviously gone out the window. As they walked two Shadow Wielders fired shadow blasts at Zoe and Keera, trying to stop them from running.

Zoe's eyes were wide as she saw Ponic leap out and throw back Mintrock. Then in the next second she was being pulled along by Keera. She finally came fully back to reality once she noticed they were being blasted at. "Thanks!" She yelped belatedly as she brought up an Ice Shield behind them as they ran down a hallway.

Keera grabbed the shadow blast and hurtled it right back at the Shadow Wielders. "Keep going, Zoe, I'll hold them off," she shouted.
Zoe would see the corridor would run further down. There was a set of stairs at the end that would lead her up to the 2nd floor, or a few sets of rooms she could try going into.

Zoe did as she was told and kept running. She soon came to the fork. Go onto these bottom rooms or go up the stairs? High up is usually where the secrets are kept! Zoe reasoned with herself, zipping up the staircase.

The staircase was long and winding the floor creaked as she ran. Eventually Zoe got to the top floor, there were another series of rooms, about 3 of them, waiting for her to explore. Before she could make a decision, however, a Shadow Warrior, the same one that met her at the front walked out from one of the rooms. "Going somewhere, girly?" he said to her in a low voice. As a Shadow Warrior he would have no Shadow Wielding abilities, or if he did they would be weak, however that didn't mean he would be a push over. He was from the same people that had kept Ponic's village under occupation for decades.

Zoe narrowed her eyes at the Shadow Warrior. "Scooch it, man!" She yelled as suddenly pipes burst open out of the walls and the water inside them blasted at the Warrior, trying to knock him into one of the rooms.

The Shadow Warrior however was quick on his feed and dove down to the ground, moving toward Zoe he pulled out a device that crackled with shadow energy. He aimed it at Zoe and a quick precise blast of shadow energy would shoot off at her legs. If the blast hit, Zoe would feel her legs begin to go numb as the shadow energy struck it and would work its way inside her body.

Zoe saw him aiming at her legs. Thinking quickly, she jumped up, going into Demon Form in mid-air and catching herself with her wings, swooping down towards the Warrior with her claws extended.

The Shadow Warrior swung out produced from behind his back a large shield that crackled and pulsed with shadow energy. He thrust it upwards at Zoe, not only would it protect him but it would fire shadow energy into Zoe that would quite hurt, similar to touching a life electric wire.
"A demon," he said when he saw Zoe's change, "horrid beast!"

Zoe rammed straight into the Shadow Shield! She yelled out in pain as she flew herself back away from it. She breathed heavily, knowing she'd been badly burned in some places. Nevertheless, she glared at the Shadow Warrior. "Eww, a Shadow Warrior!" She retorted back in a bit of a childish manner. "Eat my stinkin' Ice!" She yelled as two tentacles of Water came out from her arms, shooting at the Warrior with extremely sharp Ice-tipped ends that tried to stab into him.

The Shadow Warrior was stabbed by Zoe's ice tentacles and was thrown against the wall impaled by them in his sides. He panted and sputtered but glared at Zoe. "May the Irates consume you," he said in a final course dropping a device on the floor. The device began to pulse and beat, gathering shadow energy from the air around it. Suddenly it would explode and let loose a massive barrage of shadow all across the area, wrecking much of the building's top floor and blowing a few holes in some of the walls...

Zoe smirked at her victory, but the noticed what he had dropped. Her mouth immediately turned downwards and she furrowed her brows. "Oh really?" She said as if it was some scene from a movie she'd already seen played out wayyy too many times. She quickly turned to retreat, flying for the staircase. When it exploded, she was blown the rest of the way down the stairs, landing on the floor in an uncomfortable position. "Ugh..."
