Skylos just shook his head. He didn't care what Yamiken thought, just so long as it didn't end with Skylos's head rolling a few meters from his neck. Or worse...His friends' necks rolling. Skylos then followed, swallowing that vivid thought...
Omni followed, beaming. Time to spy~

"I think this a prudent moment to take on stealth again," Yamiken spoke as they went. On cue, he vanished from sight. "Omni, if you could drop your mental barriers enough to allow a temporary connection between us?"
Naga had no mental barriers... at least, none up at the moment. He had another charm for that... some dragons did have mental abilities, after all. But he wasn't currently using it. He did however slip on his invisibility charm.

Omni chuckled. "There's always a warm welcome for you in my mind. Well, unless you're trying to attack me, that is. But we're hardly at the experiment now for you to put me out, so we'll just continue on." Omni said, amused. The barrier was down enough for Yamiken a few seconds later. Stealth then went over the Omni, then Skylos by his own Power. Now are we going to check all fifty rooms, or are we going to somehow weed out a few?

An obvious check would be to see if anything's churning out huge amounts of Power, Yamiken noted. Also, I think we can discount the first ten rooms we come across at least. Nothing this important would ever be placed in that close reach.

Unless they were in a hurry to move it, but I see your point. Omni agreed. Omni then reached out to the entire floor to see if anything interesting was around. Immediately, he noticed something. Animals. There are animal Auras on this floor.

Animals? Yamiken responded in moderate surprise, raising his eyebrows. But no, his own investigation revealed the same thing. Hm. How odd. Though ironically, I suppose they would be the one thing one could legitimately study the psychology of here. Not likely, however. I suspect we've found our floor. He began to proceed down the corridor, searching for any other details which jumped out from any particular room. Naga also moved, though slowly, not wishing to get ahead of the others.

There were many people on this floor as well, but their auras were...well. Off. It took someone like Omni or Yamiken, maybe even Naga to tell the slight error with them. If I am seeing these Auras right, I would say they all have a slight sameness to them... Very odd. Auras are almost always different from everyone else. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they were under the influence of someone else.

Yamiken had indeed spotted it straight off. Naga didn't have quite as much experience with human auras, but now that it was pointed out to him he did notice that samey quality Omni was talking about. I'd say you're probably right, Yamiken observed. That, or possibly some sort of cloning experiment... though they're not quite as similar as I'd expect for that... no? He paused, then went on, Still, interesting as it is, this isn't helping us. We're trying to differentiate between rooms, remember.

Yes yes. I know. Omni shrugged. He just found it interesting.
Skylos was also trying to figure it out. Well. He'd just have to look through the walls, then. Skylos's pupils then turned white, and he stared through the walls... Omni noted this and mentally praised Skylos for his thinking. Skylos then smiled. There is a room down the hallway with much equipment in it. But some of the animals are in there as well, as well as people.

Sounds like our place, Yamiken asserted. Hm... but of course we don't exactly know which one you're talking about. He looked more closely at some of the doors to see if they were numbered or something.

Skylos looked amused. Now he was the one who could lead for once... Or he could just point it out. It's not like it mattered to be the one to get something right... Five-Twenty-One. Skylos noted.

Ah yes. Thank you, Skylos-kun. Yamiken strode down the corridor towards that room number; Naga followed at a more conservative pace, not wishing to bump into anyone. When they got there, Yamiken paused. Now... how to get in? I'd probably suggest we teleport... but does anyone have a better suggestion?

Omni shook his head. Teleporting is the best idea. For all we know, there are alarms on the door, seeing as this is some secret experiment that no one would want to be found out. Omni noted. Just be ready to knock the two people out that are inside.
Skylos preped for that.

Teleportation it is, then, Yamiken decided, then teleported all of them in - or rather, he teleported the space in which he estimated them all to be in, making sure himself that they arrived in an empty space on the inside.
Naga tensed slightly; they were of course still invisible and had their auras masked, but there could still be blows...

No one inside seemed to have noticed them. In fact, the people working seemed rigid and oblivious to life itself. In fact, they were like drones, one could say.
The machine that was in this room was complicated, and took up most of the room. There was an odd looking helmet on one side of the room, and a couple of various animals all in cages. Some of them looked like drones too... So how does a machine that hypnotizies people make the Sol Demon? Skylos inquired, merely assuming that's what the machine did.

Yamiken considered it for a second. He was reminded in some ways of Leo Hawkings' Void Human army on Terra 500... but there were clearly some stark differences here, not least that the mind controlled humans didn't appear to have gained any powers. Possibly something to do with utilising mental faculties more effectively, he theorised at last. Still, I'm not sure. I'll grant you, that one's a conundrum. Perhaps the machine simply has more than one function? He took another look about the room. Now, course of action... well, wait for our Sol Demon-to-be to arrive, I suppose. Does anyone have any objections? He did hope Omni wasn't about to suggest doing anything rash like destroy the machine... or, worse, attempt to do so himself without consulting them. After all, it wasn't as if they were likely to know what one another was doing until it was too late... hm... that would mean Yamiken could in theory... ahem.
Naga was actually somewhat sickened to see that animals too had been experimented on with this machine. To have done so on humans was bad enough... but on defenceless beasts too... at any rate, he had no alternative plan to suggest. They were, after all, just here as observers. Or meant to be, anyway...

I have no objection. Omni grunted. He was quite annoyed to have to watch this. In fact, he really did want to smash the machine! It's not like he didn't have good reason too...
Well. As long as Solus doesn't notice us somehow. Skylos noted. Though he didn't see how...Well. Actually. If he turned into the Sol Demon right there, he might just. And he didn't want to be blamed...
The two drones then left the room, leaving the four alone.

Yamiken was just reaching a similar conclusion to Skylos. Hm. That could be an issue. I suppose it would be a bit much to hope that we'll be spirited away before he has a chance to commit our auras and faces to memory... that could be... problematic to explain back in the present. Well, actually, would it? Still, it was probably something to be avoided. Just in case.
Naga really couldn't care less so long as he didn't actually have to fight a Sol Demon... he thought that might be just a bit beyond his abilities, somehow.

Maybe we ought to move then... Skylos suggested. We could still see him from the hallway... Or we could go in behind him, then leave after it happens so that we wouldn't be seen. We do know hot to teleport. Skylos noted.
But at that moment, a non-hypnotized human was walking...sneaking down the hall.

And sacrifice our front-row seats? Yamiken snorted mentally. Nonsense. We'll just leave promptly once all that's to be seen has been seen. Now hold still. I suspect this is him coming.
Naga braced himself. To be honest, he'd prefer to just leave; he had no particular urge to witness this. But he supposed Yamiken would be Yamiken...

All right... Skylos shrugged. To be honest, he had been thinking about keeping Yamiken far away from the machine as well.
It didn't take long before the soon-to-be Sol Demon walked in. He seemed like a normal sort. In fact, he had a smile on his face that was pure anticipation. He stopped to stare at the machine for a second, then saw the animals. He shook his head, then carefully picked up the helmet, examining it thoroughly.
Him? I'd have never thought that the man who ruined me was this insignificant little... Omni trailed off as he seemed to take a small step forward...

Omni, Yamiken spoke in an amused tone. Do stay where you are. To be fair, he didn't know Omni had moved, but... call it intuition if you like. He is a rather drab-looking fellow though, isn't he? He paused. Actually, to be honest, he looks like a bit of a prat who has no idea what he's doing.
He's an innocent caught up in the folly of his superiors, Naga came to Maximilian's defence. His only crime is curiosity. Just because he's not an ambitious thug like certain others who could be mentioned... Not that any names were being mentioned, of course...

Not that their thoughts were all that hidden at the moment... cough.
Omni snorted, coming to a halt. His only crime? Maybe at this point in history.
Skylos frowned. We can't do anything about that...
Oh well. Maximilian was now messing with the settings, it seemed. In fact, he had just turned it on. He suddenly stood up straight, as though something was stimulating him...kind of like electrical current was going through his body. His eyes were wide eyed as if in shock, and pain. But it didn't seem like the machine was doing anything...it was entirely silent.

|
|
Post by Mumiyoshi on Jan 7, 2010 19:17:21 GMT -5
Hmm... could it be that I was right? Yamiken wondered as he observed this. That he achieved the result by having the machine stimulate his mind? It doesn't seem to be doing anything measurable at the moment... At least, he didn't think so... he kept an eye on Maximilian's aura.
For Naga, this was almost a little painful to watch. In a way, it was like they were seeing the death of one person and the birth of another, less savoury person in his body... at least, that's how it seemed to Naga. Quite sad...

After a few more moments, Maximilian calmly took the helmet off and sat it back where it had been a few moments before. He turned around and looked at the empty space in front of him. He looked... Serious...calculating. However, there was no change in Aura.
...He did not turn into the Sol Demon. Omni noted, shocked. Why?

|
|
Post by Mumiyoshi on Jan 7, 2010 19:34:19 GMT -5
Yamiken studied Maximilian's face for a few moments, considering... then snapped his fingers. Or at least, he would have if they still hadn't been in stealth. The others would get an impression of him doing so anyway. That's because we've been looking at this the wrong way, he explained. This machine didn't do anything to him except increase his intelligence exponentially. However, it is this increase, I would wager, which has revealed to him how to become the Sol Demon - or, at least, how to do something which will trigger the chain of events leading to him becoming such. Hm. Most interesting. It seems this show still had some considerable running time left to play.
Naga just gave a mental sigh. Whether or not this man was a Sol Demon yet, the damage, as far as he was concerned, was done. The death had still come to pass. Surely we aren't meant to remain long enough to see all these events run their course? he thought, his distaste showing through. Surely it is enough that we have not interfered thus far? This was, of course, more to the presence of the Time Dimension Stone, or Zephyr, than his companions...

Naga was right, actually. The damage was done, and as far as things were considered, events were locked into place... Also, Maximilian turning into the Sol Demon was many months away, and this group probably wouldn't want to float around for months... The area started to turn white.
Omni shook his head. I think this is all.
Maximilian exited the room as the area turned entirely white...

... and the four of them found themselves standing on the side of a street, in what looked like a normal, late twentieth-century town. Quiet suburban houses lined the way; the occasional car rolled up or down the road. Cul-de-sacs branched off here and there; in one direction, the dull buzz of activity from the town centre could be heard. All in all, they could well have been back in the present time - except for one detail. All of them would, quite suddenly, find themselves entirely unable to use their powers. It was as if the sources they used just didn't exist anymore. Even Naga's charms stopped working; so all of them were quite visible now. Their auras too... though this wasn't such a big deal in one way because, disturbingly, they all looked like they normal auras. Their powers were just... gone. Even Omni, who was composed of Power, would find himself, quite bizarrely, unable to use it.
Naga blinked and looked around. "... where are we?" he asked, confused. "I... I don't recognise any of this. Isn't this supposed to be my trial now?"
"More importantly," Yamiken spoke, a disconcerted note creeping even into his normally placid tone, "Where are our powers?"

Skylos hadn't notice, really. He wasn't using his Power at the moment, so he'd only notice that he could no longer even see Aura...Since seeing Aura took Power in the first place. "...This is very wrong."
Omni looked sick. Technically, he was only power, so being without was really being without anything. In fact, he immediately fainted where he stood.

Naga started. "Omni!" He immediately hurried over to the Void Human's side. He may not be getting on particularly well with the man, but still...
Yamiken frowned. He looked very worried now. He'd already guessed that Omni's affliction must have something to do with the lack of their powers... what if Omni died whilst they were here? Could that happen?
"Oh. That's troublesome," a voice suddenly spoke from behind them. It was in fact the guy who had been sitting on the Series Nexus altar earlier. He frowned at Omni for a few seconds, then gave the rest of them a grin. "Of course, your being here in the first place is troublesome. Very troublesome indeed. In fact, you really shouldn't be here."
