[Takes place after The Government Project]
So Skylos now had three hunks of a blue crystal. In fact, he could but these hunks together to form a jewel of sorts, but of course, they were hunks and they didn't magically fuse back together. He leaned against the altar of the Nexus, waiting for his contact, as he knew this had to be what said person was looking for. However, he wanted to know why...before he just handed it over.

Well, as it happened, a certain someone else arrived at the Nexus before Skylos' contact. Naga Whitewing popped up at the bottom of the staircase and immediately scanned the area. He caught sight of Skylos and blinked. "Ah. Caleb, wasn't it?" he hailed the Light Human as he made his way up the stairs. Naga, remember, had last met Skylos back in Japan, when he was still using that name... well, they may have met briefly again during Naga's visit just before Nemaine's arrival, but the issue hadn't come up then, clearly.

The hunks of gem were hidden before Naga got to him. "Yeah. Hey Naga." Skylos said, aptly remembering the man's name. "What brings you here?" Funny, because Naga probably was going to ask him the same thing.

"On my way back to Terra 002," the Dragonslayer replied. "I've been in Prime again; looking for something the libraries. Something which happened not so long ago..." He looked trouble for an instant, then waved it away. "Well, it's probably nothing anyway. So, what about you, Master Light Human? What brings you here?"

"Hm? I'm waiting for a friend of sorts." Skylos noted to Naga. He idly wondered what Naga had been looking for, as it seemed that it wasn't a bright topic, which usually meant trouble.

And at that moment said 'friend' happened to show up. "Ah, Skylos," Yamiken murmured, appearing somehow right up at the altar itself. "I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long?"
Naga started a bit, then relaxed. He didn't recognise Yamiken; though he'd been in Japan, he'd never fought the warlord, just Orochi. And of course Yamiken now had his aura concealed, so no chance of recognition there. He just waited patiently for Skylos to introduce them. Actually... perhaps he should just go. It wasn't like whatever these two had to discuss was any of his business after all.

Skylos almost jumped, but he had been expecting him to be unsettling, so he had braced for such an entrance. "Not at all." Skylos smiled. "I was just talking to Naga here." he turned to Naga. "I'd like you to meet Yamiken, Naga. Yamiken, Naga." Skylos said, introducing the two.

"Yamiken?" Naga raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you the warlord who was causing trouble a while back on Terra 002?" He gave a disapproving frown. "Actually, if I recall, you summoned Orochi to Earth. That's very dangerous, you know." He crossed his arms, for all the world the disapproving parent.
Which of course wasn't likely to exactly amuse Yamiken. He raised his own eyebrow in return. "Evidently," he responded coolly. "But I felt the risk was justified by the potential gain." Actually, Orochi was a bit of a sore spot for him... mostly because Naga was right: even from Yamiken's viewpoint of a conqueror, summoning Orochi had been an incredibly foolhardy thing to do in hindsight, even if it had left him with an incredible power booster. But because of this, the temperature around the altar dropped a degree or two... figuratively and literally.

Skylos stood in between the two and slightly back. He turned to each one of them and then shook his head. Her then put his arms around both of them and grinned. "Anyways. I think--"
Then there was a pop behind them, cutting Skylos off, admitting Omni onto the scene. He looked up at the three and gave a very amused look in Yamiken's direction.

Which didn't go unnoticed by Yamiken, naturally. "No comment," he responded somewhat tersely to the unspoken remark. Actually, if Skylos was here for what the reason he thought... Omni's presence wasn't quite good news.
Naga glanced down at Omni. He immediately noted the family resemblance to Skylos and Walter, whom he had of course also met. "Ah," he spoke therefore and turned his head to Skylos. "Relative of yours?"

Skylos stopped trying to get the three to be friends and dropped his arms. "Yeah. That's Omni."
Omni chuckled to Yamiken. "Yeah yeah. I knew you could make a buddy or two." He winked and climbed the stairs. "Looks like an interesting party. Lighty, Darky, and... oldy." Omni scratched his chin. "Wow. I think you might have me beat...Actually." Omni looked surprised. He frowned though. Something felt wrong about him.

Well... Naga's aura, other than being very old, would also resemble a Wind Human's. There were... differences though. Rather strange ones. The dragonslayer gave Omni a surprised look, but then shrugged. "Well, I am rather old," he admitted modestly. "In fact, I think I'd probably recognise you if you were as old as me." He gave a bit of a laugh.
Yamiken, for his part, was rather startled at this bit of information. Older than Omni? Surely Pantech couldn't be talking about his existence as the Dimension Stones? No, no, that would just be silly, surely...

Omni shrugged. "Reality is a big place; missing one another is just as easy as trying to find a needle in seven haystacks that have 501 sections each." Omni chuckled. But no, he was only counting his Void Aura age.
Skylos scratched his chin. Where had the sudden crowd come from? He hoped no more showed up.

Naga just smiled at that. He was of course aware of the truth of what Omni had just said... but that was exactly why he'd said what he'd said. Ah well, no need to labour the point. In fact, there didn't seem to be much need to remain here. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Omni, Yamiken," he gave them both a nod and a smile - accompanied by a brief frown in Yamiken's case, which was met with a rolling of eyes - then turned back to Skylos. "And nice to see you again, Caleb. Now, I think I'll be off..." He walked over to the altar and prepared to leave. Just as he was about to teleport away, though, a sudden flash of memory came to him... a connection he hadn't made when he'd first gotten there... "Ah, actually," he spoke, turning back round, his tone somewhat hesitant. "Caleb, I don't mean to pry, but... did you happen to be holding something when I came here?"
Yamiken kept his cool, but he behind the façade he was stiffening. Oh curses, he thought to himself. He didn't just have them out, did he?

Unfortunately, he had.
Omni stiffened slightly as well, because he had known too. In fact,it seemed like he had been waiting for the others to leave...But it looked like this would be coming out for everyone to see. Shoot.
"Well. Yes." Skylos said, kind of guarded. His hand instinctively went into his pocket. Protection.

It might just have been his imagination, but Naga could've sworn the other two had frozen slightly as he said that. Which would only confirm his intuition... "If it's not too much trouble," he continued to Skylos, tone now more wary than hesitant. "May I see it?" He hadn't gotten a good enough glimpse to see that it had in fact been several things at this moment in time.
"Now, my friend, I'm not sure that's really any of your business," Yamiken attempted to cover with as much ease in his manner as he could muster. "It's not endangering the world merely to be carrying around a few personal affects, is it?" Unfortunately, that argument only worked on the assumption that Naga was just being nosy... and Yamiken had a suspicion it wasn't as simple as that.

Omni tried to look amused. "How about we all just empty our pockets, then?" Of course, he didn't really mean that...not to mention that would have taken him quite awhile with all of things he carried with him.
Skylos just sighed. "I think we know." Skylos noted. There's no sense in hiding something that is already known... He took out three distinctly dull blue gem shards from his pocket. "Happy, Naga?" He sounded slightly flat.

"Broken?" Naga's eyebrows went up. Then back down again. "Still... it is what I thought." He scratched his chin. "It's been a very long time since I last saw that... I'm afraid I do have to wonder what you're doing with it, Master Pantech." He sounded like he was still trying to be diplomatic about it. "To be honest, it's rather dangerous to have. You never know who might be after such things, apart from anything else." Did his gaze happen to flick to Yamiken as he said that?
Said samurai was now unable to totally hide the sour expression on his face. He stood there in silence. Well, that's one I've got to give up on, then... unless there are more fragments of this one.

Omni smiled and shook his head. "I'm sure Skylos here is going to be giving those shards to someone who can keep them safe." Omni had shifted his postion to be slightly closer to Skylos. Looks like he meant himself.
Skylos looked at the three and shook his head. "Look. They're not hurting anyone right now. It's not even giving off any Aura that I can see. It just looks like dull glass to me." It wasn't giving off any power. Odd.

"I don't really think they're safe in anyone's hands save Mother Nature's or the gods'," Naga told Omni in a frank tone. "The powerful may abuse them; the weak will be unable to protect them. Anyone who really wants to keep them out of harms way should hide them, preferably where even they themselves can't find them, not carry them around... and certainly not try to use them." Another glance in a certain person's direction, who just rolled his eyes in response and kept schtum.

"Well I disagree. I am certainly not weak, and I have no need to use them for anything, other than to perhaps combat some higher threats in the universe." Omni might have looked at Yamiken for a second, but it wasn't exactly him to whom he was referring to. Close enough.
While those three were busy arguing, Skylos slipped to the other side of the round altar. Perhps he could make a break for it or something... Who's to say that this wouldn't erupt into blows?

"And what if you lose?" Naga folded his arms. "Those objects weren't made to be used, Omni. I don't pretend to understand the exact role they play in the universe, but I know that much. Their power is a liability which might fall into the hands of the selfish and corrupt, not a boon to be used to right wrongs."
Yamiken meanwhile, who wasn't really taking part as such and was a tad more observant than Omni and Naga at any rate, did happen to notice Skylos trying to pull a fast one. As it happened, this suited Yamiken fine; if Skylos did escape, he could always try and rendezvous with him later before Omni could catch up then hide the Dimension Stone fragments before Omni could find him, or them. A slim hope, perhaps, but if Skylos remained there was no hope at all. And so Yamiken, rather than impeding Skylos, instead did his best to keep the other two distracted. "Can't you say the same of all power?" he counted Naga's point. "And yet I doubt you'd have us all live in caves without so much as fire to keep us warm, or even do something so simple as forsake Power."

"There's no one alive that knows Dimension Stones more than I." Omni countered. "And are you inferring that I am selfish and corrupt? What do you know of me? Nothing." Omni chuckled. "So don't try to understand things that you obviously don't. Now Skylos, hand over--" He turned and saw him at the dial. "Oh no. I don't think so." He appeared on the other side in a cloud of Void. He grabbed Skylos's hand, and then his hand started to glow white and black as the gem shards glowed a dark blue. "Heh. At least I know they're real." There was also some sort of energy being built up around the Nexus...

Oh well. Yamiken had tried. Looked like Omni was going to get them after all. But wait... what as this energy build-up?
Naga had bristled somewhat at Omni's comment, but before he could reply the discovery of Skylos' attempted escape interrupted. He noted what Omni was doing with some interest. It was almost as if... "You already have two dimension stones!" Well, he hadn't leaped quite to the truth, but give him credit, he was pretty close...

Omni chuckled. "Why yes. I do." he turned to look at Naga. "Did you take me for a liar as well? I know what I am talking about." He gave him an amused look.
Skylos frowned. "Omni. Let go of my arm..." He could feel the energy being built in his palm...it was obviously coming from the gems. Actually, those said gems began to float into the air, and they moved to hover above the altar. At that point, Omni let go of Skylos.

"And how to explain this, O wise one?" Naga countered somewhat caustically as the shards did this. He was beginning to lose his patience somewhat with Omni's dismissive attitude. "I don't think you're necessarily a liar, but I do think you're out of your depth, even if you do have two stones already."
Yamiken just ignored - well, didn't pay as much attention as he might have - the continued bickering and focused on what the gems were doing. Oh...? What's this then?

|
|
Post by Skylos on Dec 19, 2009 14:34:58 GMT -5
The gems then came together to form back into the form it should have been in. Omni shrugged. "It's obviously regenerating. But it's not active anyways, so no one can use it. For al lanyone cares, it's just a hunk of rock."
Skylos frowned. "I see. So what are we going to do about that?"
|
|
|
Post by Mumiyoshi on Dec 19, 2009 17:26:21 GMT -5
"I wouldn't be so presumptuous," Naga remarked drily. "Those stones have many mysteries associated with them, which mankind couldn't hope to fully understand given all of time to puzzle them out. I still very much advise against doing anything with it but putting it where no one whatsoever can find it."
Yamiken agreed with Naga to some extent on the first part, but thought he was being extremely over-dramatic on the second part. But then, Yamiken's world view was very different indeed from Naga's... at any rate, the samurai warlord didn't see any point in arguing, so he just continued to watch the Dimension Stone to see what it did next.

"You make it seem as though you know all about it." Omni noted. The gem seemed to stop regenerating after awhile and it fell harmlessly onto the altar's surface. Omni and Skylos looked at the others. Now...Who was going to grab it first? The two immediately shot their arms forward, hands trying to grasp it.

Naga sighed up to the heavens, on account of both Omni's response and the desperate grab the two made for the stone. He glanced over at Yamiken, who was still just standing back. "You don't want it?" he asked. "I'm surprised."
"Oh, I do," Yamiken answered mildly. "I'm just smart enough to know there's no point, as it's not going to be this simple. None of us is going anywhere, I'm sure."
"... well no one ever said he wasn't smart," Naga chuckled ruefully in response.
