[SPOILERS: Those who have not finished reading the Volks' Arc should not read past here, as this bio contains spoilers for the character and arc if you have not.]
Much about Karen hasn't been properly shared yet, so details are scarce about her. She was a childhood friend of Rem's, and helped him out of trouble a few times when he first arrived in France as a kid. She was capable in battle, due to the fact that she was secretly trained to be a child assassin by a group called the League of Assassins, who are a world wide group of private hire assassins. The League would often recruit young orphans with nowhere to go or nothing to lose into their organization, and Karen was but another child snatched up by them. She agreed to do this training in order to provide for the orphanage she lived at so she could give the other children a chance at a better life, and most of her personal money made was sent to them. It was also on the grounds that only she would be the only child they would take in from her orphanage. Karen hoped to one day be able to break free from this life of killing she found herself in, and thought maybe Rem and his family could be that escape for her. This didn't up working out, as during this time Rem and Karen were further separated by their various works. Rem looked long for his family, and did not find them until long after he became apart of the World Savers, and Karen was forced to remain doing assassination work. During this time, Karen was hired to do some proxy work for Volks, and once Volks found great favor in her skills, kidnapped her from the League. She was assumed dead by the League when all units that were sent to retrieve her were killed by Volks. Shortly after, Volks infected her with one of his Proxy Beetles, linking her mind to his. She spent the entirety of the original World Saver's group under his control, doing Volks' work, while he commanded from the shadows. Feeling like a prisoner in her own body, she was unable to act of her own thoughts and accord, as Karen slowly became a persona of herself and Volks as one.
As Volks' crafted his own plan, he put Karen more out into the open, serving as his connection to Kraven for them to work together. Soon enough, this put Karen in the crossfire of the Shining Force, and by extension Rem. Never giving up on his friend, Rem tried time and time again to reach through Volks' hold to the person he used to know. After learning of how Volks controlled Karen, he managed to free her from his hold, and she stood against Volks in a last stand to save the galaxy from his plot.
After finally being free for the first time since before he was taken in by the League, she wasn't sure what to do with her freedom, as she spent more of her life as a weapon or proxy than her own person. But seeing as how the only person she knew was Rem, she took him up on his offer to join his team after thinking on it. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do with her life now, but until she did, she decided to work with Rem's team. In part to atone for her regretful work as an assassin, but also to pay back Rem the debt she owed him for giving her her life back. She resides in the cabin today, coming to learn what friendship is like from her new teammates.
Karen has a bit of a protective older sister nature to her, due to being the oldest child at the orphanage she grew up in. This led to her taking the young and inexperienced Rem under her wing, being a few years older than him. It seemed to be implied that she has romantic feelings for Rem, but that was while she was fused with Volks, and is unclear if those are her intentions. Everything she ever did was for the protection of someone else, even if that hurt her in the end. Despite spending a long time mixed with the Volks' persona, she still retained her various skill set from combat training, as well as life experience. She's highly skilled with a bow, as well as CQC with knives, her hands, or her cerved short swords. She also uses twin SMG's for quick repelling fire power, as well as other various tools. She's used to working alone, and has difficulty working with others due to a lack of trust and disconnect instilled by the League of Assassins. Despite being very thin and fit, she has a great love for food due to always struggling to be properly fed. She never had time for hobbies, so she has difficulty adjusting to life outside of the battlefield, but seems very interested to try new things.
Although this file and her government documents list her last name as 'Darkshot', this was simply her code name on field missions when she worked with the League and Volks that she adopted for documentation. She actually has no real last name of her own, as the records of her birth parents no longer existed at the orphanage, or were never provided.
