A tale from Benevolent the Light Demon:
Another boring day it seemed. A note on the table indicated that Neon's parents were going to be late arriving home that night. That meant to the little imp, that Neon and he would not be able to leave the house to go anywhere today. He sighed slightly as he wandered down the hall and into Neon's room where he climbed onto the bed with much effort thanks to his shortness. He watched the clock on the wall and waited for what seemed eternity for it to click to three o'clock. Neon would be there in seconds.
He heard the clicking of keys at the front door and then the opening of it. Neon slipped into his room and smiled warmly at the little three foot imp. "Hey Benny." he said, somewhat cheerful. It was probably a false front though...Benny - or so he was called - knew that Neon had a history of people at school avoiding him...even the teachers it seemed. He answered him. "Heya Neon. Have a good day? I sure haven't! You have a note that says you can't go anywhere today! It's so boring here!" Neon chuckled as he rambled on. He put up a hand to stop him. "Really, Ben, that's enough of your countless problems. Let's go somewhere anyways." Ben looked at him aghast. Neon always did this to him. Such a rebellious kid to go against his parents...even if they paid no real attention to him unless he was doing something wrong...which seemed to be more often than not in their opinions. "B-but...your parents-" Neon cut him off. "They'll never know I was gone."
Ben reluctantly agreed to his plan and they left the house. The sunlight felt great on him. Why wouldn't it? He was a Light Imp - soon to be demon - which was self-explanatory. Feeling that Neon had more to his plan, he inquired why he seemed so adamant about leaving. "Neon, what are you up to?" Neon gave a smile. "Oh nothing...Yet." Ben did not like that answer.
They arrived in a secluded part in the park where there was a slight clearing. "Good training spot." Neon stated, in a hinting fashion. Ben figured so, anyways. "So that's it is it? You want to train. Why didn't you say so? We both need to work on our Light if I'm to grow into a Light Demon." Neon nodded, though somewhat sad in a way. Ben picked this up since he was apart of Neon's soul. "What's wrong Neon...I don't like that feeling." Neon stared slightly and frowned. "It's just that...I don't really think I'm good enough for Light. Ever since I got the Light Soul, I've been ignored and treated like some outcast." Ben caught on. It was just a case of self-doubt, nothing more. "Neon...listen to yourself. You sound like you're blaming your power. Your power is what makes you different from everyone. If they don't accept you, then I say they're the ones who should be ignored." He grinned, showing his tiny fangs. Neon grinned, giving Ben a quick, light hug. "Thanks Ben. I feel better now. Let's train now!"

It was close, but Ben and Neon weren't caught when they got back. It wasn't until very late that Neon's parents came back, but it was late when Neon and Ben came back. It was a great workout that the two had. Even though the two could only barely light a Light orb, they still had fun trying to see who could make the best and strongest one.
The following morning was Saturday so there wasn't any school, just a day for whatever. Neon and Ben made their way back to their training spot in the tiny clearing. Ben loved Saturdays. They could train all day without any problems. "We'll start in a bit. I think I'll stretch out first this time." Came Neon's voice. Ben nodded and then felt a strange wave of energy. He couldn't quite place it...but it seemed threatening. He then heard Neon...screaming?! He turned around and saw Neon clutched in the claws of a demon...Chaos ranked! Ben sweated and noted the black, spiked halo above the demon's head. What demon had that? Did it matter? He rushed at the demon. "Put him down!" he shot out weak light orbs. They did no harm to the demon. Once Ben got close enough, the demon kicked him so hard that Ben went flying into a tree. Ben twitched there as he saw Neon's eyes filled with fear and shocked to see his friend who he counted on so easily defeated. The demon licked his lips and showed four rows of jagged teeth to Neon who was helpless.
A blast of violet, black colored energy shot out from a person's right hand and hit the demon square in the back. The demon released Neon who was promptly caught by the stranger and quickly placed next to his Imp. Ben grabbed Neon's hand weakly and voiced, "I'm...sorry..." Neon didn't look him in the eye. The stranger, meanwhile, dispatched the demon easily with more of his black and violet colored attacks. Neon stared at the attacks with such admiration. "What...is that?" Ben choked. "Darkness...Stay away from it...It'll kill you..." Neon had stopped listening after "Darkness". The stranger walked over. He wore a strange smile on his face. "You alright Kid?" Something about the way he said it made it seem like he used it all of the time. "Yeah..." Came the automatic reply from both Neon and Ben. They got up and thanked him. Ben looked the stranger over. He wore a strange type of robe...black sleeves and belt with a white body. The sleeves also seemed to be too long and the stranger seemed to roll them up a bit every few seconds.
The stranger frowned. "I'm afraid I can't let you remember any of this." His eyes weirdly changed colors. The pupils changed to white and the irises changed to black. Suddenly, the area around Neon became dark and he saw his fears all come up in front of him. "I hate making people forget out of fear but...ah...? How can you fear light? How disgraceful." The stranger took out a black and violet sphere and jammed it into Neon's body. "Perhaps a dark soul will change your mind." He laughed and left him as whatever attack the stranger had used on Neon had faded.
Neon was then on the ground staring as though he was still under the attack. It cleared up since Ben hit him on the face a few times, thinking Neon might become hysterical. "Let's go home Neon...you're hurt..." Neon was quiet the entire time home and even when he got to his room. He didn't crack a smile even once. Ben seemed concerned. "Are you alright Neon?" Ben bit his lip. What if that stranger had done something to Neon? He'd hunt down that stranger and kill him; no one touches his friend. Neon replied, somewhat sounding bored. "I'm fine." Ben nodded, but Neon added. "No thanks to you." Ben gave a surprised look. Neon never said anything like that to him before. Was he really that useless? "Go away Ben. I want to be alone." So blunt he thought. Was this really Neon? "...and yes it is me...now go away." Mind reading? Ben thought as he left.

Ben awoke the next morning to find that Neon had left the house...without him. He cried sully as he jumped back onto Neon's bed. The demon must have broken their friendship...he just had to patch it back up. He left the house in a hurry and found Neon.
He was shocked and dumbfounded to find Neon using dark orbs so easily. Neon didn't even notice him until Ben spoke to him. "Neon? How are you using darkness? Didn't I tell you it was dangerous?" Neon stared at him. "You're not the boss of me." He added coolly. Ben was taken aback. "N-no...I didn't mean it like that. I was just looking out for you. You're my friend. I worry about you." Neon scoffed. "Some friend...He can't even protect someone." Ben's eyes welded with tears. "N-Neon...That's so mean...I tried...I..." He sniffed. Neon walked over and bent down to him and gave a twisted grin. "You're useless. No one would want you!" He then took his Light Soul out and dropped in front of him. "Including me." He walked off, the darkness filling him. Ben held the Light Sphere and wept bitterly. His body entered the soul and the soul transported into the hands of a stranger. He fixed his sleeves as it arrived and then frowned. "Not another soul...Now I have to hunt down the owner. The stranger left the room. A demon, wearing the same colors as the stranger, walked in and grabbed the soul and pocketed it. He also saw a dark soul and took it as well. He escaped as the stranger returned and saw the robbery.
Neon returned home and sat in his new solitude. Now what was he going to do with his parents? He thought.
