"Nope, weapons." Said Wukong, snapping his fingers. Soon enough, Lu Bu's halberds would spin out from the arena entrance and land before him. "Go for it!"

"Very well." Lu Bu walked back calmly and picked up one of his halberds. Just one for now. Then after the briefest of pauses, he turned around and charged at Wukong with a roar. As he got near, he jumped towards the Monkey King, spinning the halberd above his head once and then bringing it down at his opponent with literally earth-shattering force.

Sun Wukong extended his staff to about 4 metres, then with one hand casually brought the staff up into Lu Bu's crotch while he was in the air.

Lu Bu saw the staff extend and guessed something along those lines would be coming. Shifting his weight in main air a bit he fell slightly to the side of where he would have, allowing him to push off of Wukong's staff with his left foot rather than it going between his legs. He then spun around mid air and struck at Wukong with his halberd once more, this time laterally rather than vertically, using Air to effectively extend his weapon's length and provide a bit more cutting power.

Keeping his staff extended, Sun Wukong leapt forward, landed on his hand and sprung off of his hand again. Whilst in the air from this spring he performed a wide horizontal motion with his staff towards Lu Bu, whose heavy halbered would be encumbering him, hopefully, after that last attack. The staffs extended form would make up for Wukong being some distance away from Lu Bu.

However, Lu Bu was well-used to wielding the weight of his halberd - heck, he was used to wielding the weight of two. So that didn't slow him down very much. As Wukong's staff came towards him, he landed on it with both feet and sprang off it, though not very far into the air, landing on the ground and recovering in a quick roll. Even as he was recovering, he slammed his spear down on the ground, sending a blast of energy which ripped up the earth it passed through towards Wukong. Even as this attack travelled forth, Lu Bu was up and charging in its wake, halberd held across his chest ready to strike. As he got close to Wukong, whether the Monkey King dodged the first attack or not, he sliced outwards with his weapon, again using Air to augment its capabilities.

Sun Wukong however had landed on his feet already, and plunged his staff into the ground to the side of the Earth magic's damage. As Lu Bu ran forward, Wukong began pivoting around on his staff and when Lu Bu came close enough, Wukong pivoted around and aimed a powerful two-legged kick at Lu Bu's face.

Lu Bu saw Wukong's kick and went with the momentum of his spear-swipe to lean to his left enough to avoid the kick. He then spun around and thrust his spear towards Wukong - if the weapon itself didn't hit, he sent a blast of Air out from its point to catch Wukong as he sailed forwards.

Wukong tilted his wrists in a way that when he let go of the staff he would be sent flying upwards to avoid the wind blast, but not too far upwards. Wukong then came down from the sky aiming a powerful kick at Lu Bu's gut.

In response, Lu Bu raised his spear so that Wukong's kick would impact against its shaft rather than his gut. He also surrounded the shaft with fire so that Wukong would get burnt when this did happen.

"Yoww!!" Wukong yelped, but he kept his foot on the weapon and wrapped his monkey foot around the shaft. Immediately he used this to pivot himself around the staff and aim a close quarters punch onto Lu Bu's face with enough power to knock him off balance.

Not expecting Wukong to hold on like this, Lu Bu was struck off balance. "Oof!" he cried out, staggering backwards. The break in his concentration ceased the flames along his spear, but not wishing to lose the momentum, as soon as he had recovered from the blow Lu Bu swung his spear down and tried to smash Wukong against the ground.

Wukong, his moale raised by landing a good hit, landed on the floor while Lu Bu was knocked off balance and rolled to the side of his oncoming halberd. He then lapt a small distance across the floor so he was crouching in front of Lu Bu, after which he leapt up and aimed a powerful punch at Lu Bu's chin.

As soon as Wukong was in front of him, Lu Bu swung his halberd in order to catch his opponent on the face by the butt. As it happened, the punch stopped this blow, but the reverse was also true. Lu Bu then counter-attacked by sweeping his weapon the other way, so that the bladed end came flying up towards Wukong's left flank.

Sun Wukong had punched with his right hand, so he therefore could use his left hand to stretch and grab the shaft of the halberd before the blade touched him. He then pivoted himself up and aimed a kick at Lu Bu's face.

Lu Bu by now was starting to get used to Sun Wukong's considerable flexibility and the acrobatic nature of his moves, so he was able to anticipate this next kick and so managed to move his head back soon enough to dodge it. He then brought his own knee up towards whichever part of Wukong happened to be lowest at that moment in time.

Well, the lowest part of Sun Wukong at the time was his left hand, which was attached to the shaft of Lu Bu's halberd, so that didn't really work. Sun Wukong kept his foot moving, and then followed up with the next one hoping to catch Lu Bu by surprise as he brought his head up.

Lu Bu began to bring his head back up, but then saw the second kick approaching and jerked it back again. He was still caught on the chin, though, and staggered back once more. This time, however, he went with his momentum and, spinning, tried to hurl Sun Wukong away. Not a particularly smart move given this particular opponent, probably, but Lu Bu was going on instinct now, and against anyone else it would probably have worked quite well.

Sun Wukong however, allowed himself to get thrown, but only when Lu Bu was facing in the opposite direction he had been before. Whilst in the air he snapped his fingers and his Ruyi Jingu Bang would hurl itself towards Sun Wukong, hitting Lu Bu from behind as soon as Wukong had let go of the halberd.

Given the circumstances, Lu Bu didn't really have a chance to dodge this, so the weapon struck him squarely in the back, causing him to stagger still further. With an effort and a bit of a hop, though, he managed not to capsize, and struck his halberd against the earth, sending a huge wave of fire sweeping across the arena. Someone was getting rather serious it seemed.

Wukong, given his light body and Lu Bu's immense strength, was hurled right towards the arena walls, which he rebounded off of with his feet and leapt over the fire, back towards Lu Bu. He caught his Ruyi Jingu Bang on the way there and twirled it a few times before spinning around in the air hoping to hit Lu Bu with a powerful strike to the head with the heavy staff.

Lu Bu parried the strike with ease, compensating for Ruyi Jingu Bang's great weight by striking it aside all the harder. He didn't hit it far, however - just enough to escape harm - and promptly thrust his spear towards the still-approaching Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong gripped his fingers around the flat edges of the blade, and using his immense strength to stop himself dead in his tracks. The blade wasn't far from his eye. He quickly used the staff in his hand to aim a quick jab onto Lu Bu's head.

The two warriors' heads collided. Wukong's skull was much tougher than Lu Bu expected, and his own head sprang backwards, leaving him in a daze for a couple of seconds. If Wukong wasn't similarly affected, this might make a good opening for him.
