When they reached the summit, Yamiken crossed to an open space in the centre. He removed his armour and handed it to Ranmaru. He then drew Oroken. The symbols etched on the blade were now glowing with a faint purple light. Yamiken held the katana high for a few seconds, then began an intricate sword dance around the plateau. As he did so, he began to mutter an incantation. The wind began to pick up.
Yamiken continued his sword dance, going faster and faster and speaking his incantations louder and louder as he went. The wind continued to rise, spinning in an anti-clockwise motion round the edge of the plateau, picking up clouds of dust.
As Yamiken's ritual continued, the wind began to crackle with energy, some of which flew in bolts towards Oroken. When they hit the katana, the intricate kanji symbols on it began, one by one, to light up with a purple glow.
Meanwhile, all the symbols on Oroken were now aglow. Yamiken finished his swordance, standing at the centre of the plateau with the katana held aloft. One by one, the symblols on the blade began to peel away from it, although they still left behind the marks they had once been nothing more than. As Yamiken continued to chant, they swirled upwards - then, when they had reached a great height, formed a disc, parallel to the surface of the plateau. This disc began to rotate, faster and faster, and at the same time expanded, as the symbols which made it up did also, until it covered the width of the plateau. The disc moved in the opposite direction to the wind still swirling up clouds of dust below.
As the disc and wind began to move faster and faster, long sparks of energy began to leap from one to the other, getting faster and faster, until they were no long sparks but solid beams of energy, crackling between the two circles, one in the air and close to the surface. Sparks also began from one side of the disc to the other...
Meanwhile, the sparks flying from one side of the disk to the other slowly began to coalesce into a sheening surface of energy which spread across the disc created by the symbols from Oroken. The surface was mostly smoothed, but occasionally vibrations shuddered along it, causing it to bend and distort.
Meanwhile, on Mount Tenno, Yamiken's ritual had finished.
The surface of the disc gradually began to bulge. Unlike the previous vibrations across the disc, this didn't vanish after a few second. Instead, the bulge grew, taking the shape of a giant, serpentine dragon's head. Then, once it reached a certain point, it bulge burst open, and a monumentous snake dragged itself through the portal and into the sky.
Its head was at least 10 metres wide and several times as many long. The scales were a deep violet colour, and they rippled and swirled as if moved by a silent storm. The head had two, slit-like nostrils, a wide, smooth gash of a mouth, which was now shut, and two, gleaming, yellow snake eyes. The ovular pupils, rather than black, were a deep crimson, the colour of blood, and the eyes had no whites.
This monstrous head was followed by an equally wide and far longer body, with similar scales, which eventually tapered off into a black, whip-like tail. The serpent coiled itself round in the air above the plateau several times before its entire body was accomodated. It then stared at Yamiken was vicious, calculating eyes.
Rather than wait for Neon's confirmation, he carefully made his way to Yamiken. Lucky for him, Hanzo and Mitsuhide were tied up. It was just has he was nearing him that Yamiken finished whatever he was up to. Skylos watched in amazement as Orochi was summoned. He stood somewhat close to Yamiken at this point, in a defensive stance. He stared up with his own yellow eyes.
Orochi huge mouth opened, and a deep, booming yet oddly sibilant voice echoed about the mountain. "Who has summoned me from the Land of the unliving?"
Yamiken's voice rang out, unusually small and high-pitched next to Orochi's but still carrying tone of authority, in response. "I, Yamiken, who wields the katana Oroken, which once vanquished you. By its power, I command you!"
Skylos was in awe at the intensity of Orochi's voice. Nothing less than what he expected. He turned his gaze to Yamiken as he spoke. This was the big moment, apparently. He frowned to himself and figured that things would probably be downhill from here... he might actually have to start fighting.
For a single, terrible moment, it looked as though Orochi would attack Yamiken. But then the great snake closed its eyes, dipped its head and said, "Master." Lifting its head, the serpent lifted its head and asked, "What would you have me do?"
Yamiken's voice again rang out in response. "Go through the sky to the city, near here, known as Kobe. Once there..." He paused slightly, then concluded with dreadful finality, "Demonstrate your power to the world and destroy it utterly!"
Skylos's muscles relaxed when it didn't attack. Thinking himself safe, he smiled, but it quickly became a worried frown. "Yamiken," he began, as he walked and then stood next to him. He then left his mouth open as if to continue, but nothing came, and he closed his mouth. He truly knew nothing that would change Yamiken's mind about this destruction.
Yamiken's eyes flicked towards Caleb. "Are they really that worth worrying about?" he whispered icily. "The human race can easily afford to lose 1 million, 2 million, however many reside there. None of its members is inexpendable. That's the beauty of nature."
Skylos bit back his tongue as he had been doing for awhile now. He squinted his yellow eyes a bit. "Even so. They're still of the same race as we are." he finally said, but it didn't have much strength to it.
Yamiken snorted. "Are they? Sometimes it hardly feels that way." He raised his voice. "Orochi! Go! Fufill your mission!"
The mighty serpent nodded in asent and glided away. As it departed, it expanded even further, reaching truly astronomical proportions. It also began to generate angry storm clouds, bit by bit concealing its powerful body.
Skylos blinked and then suddenly broke into a grin. "Then maybe you really are a demon." he said, in amused sort of way. Skylos watched Orochi depart from the corner of his eye. There was nothing he could do to stop it...
