Cristal, a youth from the Wave Realm, sat alone on a hill that was overlooking Washington D.C. Cristal wore all blue; she wore a blouse and skirt, but she had white hair. She was a part of a small group that had left France, seeing that the group of World Savers was getting too large, and only covered Europe in their grid of protection. Jack finally convinced a few of them to ship out to North America, to the District of Columbia, more specifically. Cristal was one of a bunch of humans that had power over a specific power. Since she was from the Wave Realm, she had power over water. She was known for using a bow made of water and firing arrows of sharp water at her foes. There were many others in the group which included: Danlay, who had power of elements, Emanuel, who was excellent in different types of magic, there was also Abby, who was Danlay’s girlfriend, and could use little magic as well, Atamaru, the Blood Demon was also on this team, and could do a variety of things such as possessing foes with his blood, Nate, a rather odd case because his powers shifted, therefore, making it a surprise each time he used them, and there was the leader of this brigade, Jack, the Void Demon.
As Cristal mused over the group members she had in the group, she noticed the frantic waving of Danlay as he came running up the hill. Once he arrived within twenty feet of Cristal, he called to her. “Cristal! Hurry! We have problems!” He stopped in front of her and he bent over huffing and puffing. Cristal chuckled to herself before going serious and seeing what was wrong.
“What is the problem?” She asked as he recovered his composure.
“Oh… just another demon on the loose. Nothing too new.” He gave a slight grin and motioned for her to follow him. He appeared to be heading towards the Washington Monument.
“Just where is the demon this time?” She inquired. It was obviously not in her direct line of sight, but it had to be somewhere important, otherwise, Danlay wouldn’t have been causing such a fuss. Danlay sighed impatiently.
“On top of the Washington Monument. And before you ask, it’s a Power Demon.”
Cristal scratched the back of her head. That had been her next question, actually. Perhaps this job was getting too redundant? “I don’t understand why demons have to be like this. They have human forms for a reason.”
“I suppose it’s just one of those mysteries of life; why do people have to be annoying and troublemakers? I suppose it just wants attention.” Danlay shrugged. “Now please, let’s hurry!” He shot off.
The ground sloped downwards and eventually ended up at the base of the monument. Cristal then inquired. “Where is everyone else?” She looked around the base, but she only saw the two of them.
Danlay shrugged. “Does it matter? Since we’re here, we might as well go check it out. Care to do the honors? ‘Kay, thanks.” Danlay did this to everyone…Always making others go do things for him. It could be one reason why Danlaywas kicked out of decided to change over to be in this group instead of staying in the France group.
Cristal rolled her eyes. “Fiiine.” She mumbled. She cloaked herself in a watery shield that made her look transparent. No one would ever see her, unless they were specifically looking for her. She entered the monument and ran quickly but quietly up the stairs. “Why can’t I use an elevator?” She whined and panted simultaneously. As she neared the top, she could feel the air pressure change. It was quite annoying and it made her ears hurt. “Wonderful. I’ll be sure to sock Danlay the next time I see him…” She trailed off noting that the air pressure was affecting her breathing as well. It wasn’t smart to talk to yourself anyways; you might be seen as a lunatic. Once she finally got to the top, she was able to find a roof access from the ceiling. She wedged herself up into it and then appeared on the roof. Her objective was sitting right in front of her. Ah… Now what? I’ve found him. She crept forward slowly, wondering just what she was going to do. Perhaps if she scared him, he’d jump off and land on the ground. That would certainly facilitate things. But then she hit her head. Duh…Why don’t I just use my powers on him? She called up water into the form of a bow. She knocked an arrow of water, and deftly fired the surprisingly sharp arrow into the neck of the demon. The demon uttered a cry of pain and rolled off the side of the Washington monument. “Victory!” She jumped up and down and then accidentally slipped off. Down she went as well, falling and screaming. Just as she thought she’d hit the ground, arms caught her and then flew her down gingerly the rest of the way. A grinning Atamaru had flown up and caught her. Cristal hugged him after being set down. “That was very scary!” She announced.
Danlay’s face reddened and thought that perhaps this had been slightly his fault for making her go up there to begin with. He seriously hoped he wouldn’t get shot at later by Cristal’s Water Needles. He went over to the unconscious Power Demon and made it so that he could not escape by temporarily sealing his powers by use of his own Elemental Powers.
Another person then joined the group. He seemed to be wearing white on the left half of his body and black on the right side of his body. This was Jack, the so-called leader of this group. As stated before, he was a Void Demon; however, he is classified as a Chaos ranked demon, meaning he has six wings and four rows of fangs when he happened to be in demon form. He addressed Cristal. “Well done! It looks like you didn’t need any back-up at all!”
Cristal beamed. “That’s because I can take care of myself, thank you very much!” Though she did nudge Atamaru and he simply chuckled in return, knowing she wouldn’t have survived that fall without his intervention. “So. Um. What do we do with this demon now that we’ve bagged him?” She inquired. Jack was the boss, so it was best to ask him.
“I believe this Power Demon should be taken back to its realm, just as we’ve done for the other demons we encountered the past few weeks; that seems to have done the trick.” And it had; they hadn’t seen the same demon twice or the same type either. Jack picked up the demon without many problems and slung him over his shoulders. “I’ll be back in a bit. You guys should get back to the base.” The said base was in a secret spot underwater. Each of them had a special ring that shielded them from the water and allowed them to enter the base both dry and with oxygen.
“All right Jack.” Atamaru agreed. “Let’s head back, everyone.” As the group started back for the Potomac River, Jack shimmered in a Void Mist and then disappeared altogether with the Power Demon. “Shall we get back, then?” Atamaru said to break the silence. The others nodded and they headed for the river.
Once they had reached their destination, they dove into the water and the rings on their fingers activated. A bubble encased them in oxygen and they slowly floated to the bottom of the river. Once they touched the bottom, a lock opened in the side of the earth and admitted them into a small room which would drain the water once the doors closed. After the water drained from the small room, the bubbles that were around them vanished and the second doors admitted them into the base.
The base’s front room’s interior was like the cabin’s interior they had left in France. There were a few couches that were arranged around a television, but an item that was not in the cabin was a computer off to one side. There were also shelves of books in this living space, something the cabin was definitely lacking. To the left was a doorway which led to the dining room, which had a lovely oak table and matching chairs, but also a magnificent chandelier that had to have been a gift. Two wooden cabinets held glazed china for all to see. Continuing right would put one into the kitchen which was furnished with all the up-to-date appliances. Backtracking to the front room, the right passage way led one to a laundry room…something that was often full due to the amount of people that lived in the base. To the left was a giant bathroom. Again retuning to the front room, a door was also straight ahead from the entrance, and that led to a hallway with everyone’s rooms. At the back of that hallway was a door that led to an operation’s room.
“It’s great to be home!” Cristal yawned. Today’s events must have tired her. A shame, because it was only four o’clock; it wasn’t the best of time to sleep, seeing that there was at least six hours left before her usual bedtime. She plopped down on a couch and gave a sigh. “Could we not have anymore disasters for the weekend? Please?” She seemingly asked fate.
With a laugh, Atamaru replied. “No such luck.” He told her. “With our luck, we’ll have to deal with twenty of them tomorrow.” This response awarded Atamaru a glare from Cristal.
Later in the day, Jack returned and headed straight to his room. Cristal was not able to see him long enough to tell his mood, but his expression suggested he was tired. With nothing really to do, she decided to go to bed early.
The following morning, Cristal woke up bright and early. She slipped into the kitchen and made herself some breakfast; omelets were her favorite. She reflected on the happenings of the day before. In her mind, she had kept count of the number of demons that were causing problems by placing themselves in open sight (humans weren’t supposed to know about demons being real). Her count was now up at a shocking twenty-two! So what demon was left? Well, she figured the lone Sol Demon wasn’t going to come, so that crossed him off the list…and she hoped seriously that the Crystal Demon wasn’t going to be at the end of this… And Curse Demons were never around. So that meant that…Well. That was all of them. So maybe all was well now? Yeah right. Cristal finished her meal and deposited her dishes into the sink.
It was a while later, and Cristal was outside of the base on a hill, just feeling the breeze. It was a calm day, thank goodness. But because she was just about to nod off in complete relaxation, the sky went black and coldness swept over the area. This wasn’t lost on Cristal, and she bolted up from the ground in anticipation. What now? She thought silently to herself. It hadn’t occurred to her that there could be problems other than the demon race going insane and trying to one at a time show themselves to everyone… Well. Maybe it was a demon. There wasn’t some law that stated that it had to be a different one each time…even though that had seemed to be the case.
It wasn’t long before Jack, Atamaru, and Danlay joined her. With Danlay, this time, came Abby and Emanuel. It seemed like everyone there was ready for a fight except for Cristal. She wondered what they knew that she didn’t. “Um. What’s going on?” She inquired to Jack.
“I’m not entirely sure… There appears to be some sort of build up of power. In fact, I think it might just be Darkness.” Cristal looked at Jack with a raised eyebrow.
“But haven’t we already defeated a Dark Demon and turned them back to Dark Demon realm?” Cristal knew that they had; they had gone over all of the demons except for the Sol, Crystal, and Curse demons. Danlay nodded.
“We have. But this is a different Darkness. In fact, it is one I am well aware of… Guys. I think it’s him.” Danlay seemed to know who this apparent enemy was. Perhaps it was someone Cristal had never had to deal with.
“If it’s who I think you think it is, then we’re in for it…” Jack replied. Unfortunately for the group, Jack was quite right in his words. The crash of thunder was heard and lightning was filling the sky in odd forks of a bright display. But this lightning was of a Power. This was obvious due to the fact that it was Bronze in color. Bronze Darkness. With the wind now howling, it was no wonder that Nate then showed up.
“Whoa! What’s going on?!” Nate yelled against the wind. Today he was wearing sand colored clothing. His random ability of the day appeared to be over sand, or maybe it was Earth in general. His eyes moved to each in the group, seeing if any of them was going to answer or not.
“Look up. I think we’re just about to find out.” Danlay called, now seeing a sort of tear in space appearing overhead. From the rift was a sort fountain of energy that was emerging. The group looked up just in time to see something coming through! The dark mass was beginning to take a tangible shape the more it flowed through.
“So much for secrecy…” Atamaru noted under his breath. He took this opportunity to shift into his demon form. His blood red robe seemed to catch the odd lighting and caused it to appear a sick orange. In fact, everything seemed to appear an odd color. It was as though the colors themselves were being distorted. It could only be blamed on whatever the mass was above them. Atamaru extended his six wings and took off from the ground. “I can handle this!” The Blood Demon shouted.
“Wait a minute Atamaru! Don’t be foolhardy!” Jack shouted back to his comrade.
In the sky, Atamaru approached the dark blob and then quickly found that it wasn’t so blobish anymore. The mass turned into a humanoid shape… At first, anyways. It then became apparent that this was not a human at all! A giant set of wings formed on the shape’s back, along with three wicked horns on the sides of its forehead and in the center. Long sickle-like claws shaped themselves on hands that then formed from the mass. A blood-red loincloth then appeared and seemed to be the only form of clothes on this demonic shape. The black demon’s crimson eyes then stared at the group. Danlay then jumped.
“No! It can’t be…!” Danlay uttered. Emanuel and Abby gasped. “It’s Dorango! The King of Evil…”
“I am the true king of demons, fool!” Dorango’s voice boomed over everyone. “You will all fall as you should have long ago.” He laughed. “You are all weaklings! Your powerhouses are far away and will never be able to help you!” Cristal glared.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about! We are far stronger than you, and we don’t need those other guys to win!” She crossed her arms. “Just watch us!” Cristal created an orb of water and fired it at Dorango, who was now touching down on the ground. The orb hit him, and he merely grunted.
“Is that all you have, girl?” Dorango then laughed. “If that is all you can manage, then I have already won!” But the next moment, Dorango was sacked with a plethora of attacks! Razor sickles of Blood slashed at Dorango’s back, while Void blasted at his chest. Cristal looked around and saw that Atamaru and Jack had attacked as well.
“Great going, guys!” Cristal cheered them on. She then created a bow made of water, and fired Water Arrows at Dorango’s massive body. “C’mon!”
But at this point, Dorango had had enough! He clawed the arrows from the air and blasted what looked like a smokescreen of black darkness on the group. But this was no smoke! Once Cristal realized the consistency was closer to a sheet of water coming at her, she ran back the other way to get away! Cristal then tripped and she screamed as the darkness was about to envelope her! Just as it was about to grab her, a blast of some type of energy destroyed it. Her savior was Emanuel, who had switched into his armor at some point.
“Hurry up and get up!” Emanuel told her briskly. “I might not me around to help you next time.” He ran ahead to get back towards Dorango. Jack and Atamaru appeared to have the skies covered, as they were both demons and could fly. As they circled their quarry, Dorango continued to try and blast them out of the sky with Darkness beam the size of dinner plates! The only apparent reason he continued to miss was because Abby was using her power to make the beams go off course. Dorango noticed this and went at her to crush her underfoot.
“Get away from her!” Danlay then yelled. A cyan colored energy enveloped him, and he used this aura build up to unleash a beam of elemental energy upon Dorango. This beam burnt through his massive leg and caused him to back away from his intended target. Nate then used this opportunity to use his Sand Power to snake up from the ground and trap him in the awkward stance of backing away. In effect, this caused Dorango to topple over backwards.
“Now’s our chance! Pour it all onto him!” Jack yelled to his crew. Suddenly, everyone began charging at once. A massive Void Beam was created, and then it blasted at Dorango. A few sharpened pyramids made of Sand became like rockets and flew through Dorango’s wings, breaking them and filling them with holes. Two combined magic blasts came from Abby and Emanuel, which managed to blast his horns into splinters, as well as bash in his head. A massive wave of blood then poured over Dorango, and his skin began to steam as though hot water had been poured on to him! To really do some damage, Cristal charged up her strongest attack! Wings made of water came on her back, and then she flapped them with enormous power. A tsunami of water needles roared at Dorango, and covered him in pain.
But even all of this did not stop Dorango! Dorango gave a massive roar that cause shockwaves which blew everyone back. He got up in a bloody mess, but otherwise, still alive! “You will pay for your insolence! You tiny Powers will never crush me!” Dorango lifted his hands above his head and created a massive darkness orb. This orb was smashed down at the ground, and it caused an explosion that caught the six in the blast! Torn and ragged by the blast, the group moaned and groaned on the ground. “You see? You will all perish under my endless power!” Dorango began to charge up another energy ball, but this one seemed to be even bigger! In fact, it was now big enough to wipe out the general vicinity! “Say goodbye, Danlay.” Dorango said to his lifelong enemy.
A sound of metal was then heard, and the distinct sound of it breaking skin. Dorango’s eyes popped and he looked down at his chest. A shining blade was sticking out of him, right through his core. Dorango screamed as his body literally began to turn to ash, bit by bit. Within the minute, his body had completely disintegrated. Hovering in the air behind where Dorango had used to be was none other than Arthur. In his hand was Excalibur.
“What? Did you think I was going to sit this out just because I’m not in your group?” The man in green landed and Danlay grinned. “Oh yes. Thanks for distracting him. I seriously got here as soon as I could. Once I saw that Dorango had finally broken through, I knew this was the only chance we had to finally destroy him. You see, Dorango didn’t realize that his power was not at full. Since he was behind that ward, his full power was never within his grasp. Had he had more time, he’d have surely won without more help.” Arthur frowned and looked at the sky, which was clearing up. “But fate has been nice to us today, and we can all rest in peace, knowing that this enemy has finally been slain.” Arthur sheathed his sword. “Good work, group. Continue to do well.” With that, Arthur left in a flurry of golden particles.
“…Darn. We didn’t get to beat him.” Cristal pouted. The group then all turned to look at her.
“Well…” Danlay began. “Technically, we did. You see, Arthur just happened to give the final blow, but we weakened him even more so than he already was. So in fact, Arthur couldn’t have won without us. So there!” Danlay grinned. But Danlay wasn’t grinning because they had won. He was grinning because his old enemy had finally been vanquished. Maybe now he could get over his past and move on…
As for the others, this was just another adventure that was in a long line of adventures yet to come.
