Clyde did notice that, but he thought it would be better not to pry into his word choice, and make him regret saying it. "Noah seems to keep himself a lot more busy now a days with his new friends, and her. He seemed more prone to do things with everyone before all that happened. He used to pop in my house a lot and knock stuff over. Poor kid ruined a light robe once spilling a bucket of grease on himself." Clyde chuckled.

"It is difficult for him to do anything with anyone when there are those that would rather he were dead." Belak explained this in his usual monotone.

Clyde frowned. "Well yeah.....Theres that too....We aren't all as accepting and forgiving as we should be."

"Forgiveness does not come easily to most." Belak knew this better than anyone. His past actions had allowed two deaths. In fact, it was because of that fact that he had become a Darkness Demon. He wasn't running away from his foolishness, but he had decided that he shouldn't live without penalty.

"True, but with everything we've all been through, I feel like we should all be close enough to. It's a shame." Clyde said.

Belak looked at Clyde. "One would think." He turned away. "But that is what happens when people that are not meant to be here decide to live here. The clashing ideals get in the way of what would be normalcy."

Clyde nodded. "Yeah, that much is true. Off worlders need to understand the world they decide to live in. Its a responseability."

Belak was glad that Clyde had followed what he had meant. In actuality, their group had been made of many offworlders: Seña, Oberon, Ashi, and most unfortunately, Cyrus. It was very unfortunate, but the fact of the matter was, the majority of the negative emotions and events that had occurred here were because of that group. The only one in that group that seemed to have a level head was Seña... "If there is one thing I have learned in life, is that people will disappoint you by doing something counterproductive."

[Many months later...]
Ashi Volisen, now 360 years old as of March that current year, sat in the woods surrounding the Fortress. She was up on a pillar of stone, watching the skyline meet the trees in a new color every few minutes. Sunrises were good for thinking- especially when you couldn't sleep.

Kyle also happened to be up for the sunrise--though he wasn't watching it. He was practicing a technique that he'd only ever seen his mom do occasionally, usually for withered plants or stale bread. After having practiced using smaller shrubs and the like, he sucked the water out of the branches and leaves of a nearby tree, letting it simply fall onto the ground. He then repeated the process on another tree, but this time he manipulated the water, attempting to put it into the first tree he took from. Essentially, he was attempting to be able to revive a dead plant by restoring water into the vital areas.
Ashi might notice some trees alternately turning brown then back to their original colors--mostly. This went on as he killed one tree to revive another, each time becoming progressively more successful with reviving a tree.

As Kyle's endeavors drew nearer to her, Ashi noticed him trying to revive trees after heartlessly hurting or killing them in the first place. She sighed as he was finally close enough to hear her voice. "Hey. What are you trying to do? Make zombie trees?" Yeah, it was a joke, but her voice still sounded kind of somber.

Kyle had been so engrossed in what he was doing he hardly noticed Ashi until she spoke. He looked around, and then finally, up. "Oh," he grinned in a 'you-caught-me' way. "Good morning! Still haven't quite mastered the art of animating things to be able to do that just yet. It's an old trick I've been trying out.."

"Well, it seems kind of neat," she said, lowering her pillar of stone to come down to Kyle's ground-level. She kept sitting, though, even once she came down to the ground. "You know me. I'm not one much for water."

"It has it's uses," he replied, but conceded, "though I've only ever seen it used to revive withered parsley sprouts before." He shrugged. "It's difficult to get perfect, since you don't want to over or under infuse them, and you need it to be evenly dispersed and meet certain criteria to support life.. Sorry, I'm rambling. What are you doing out here so early?"

"Oh, I, uh... couldn't really sleep again." She frowned, now watching as young rays of daylight began to splinter their way through the tree trunks and into the forest. "Listen to me, Kyle. Don't get old. Don't fall in love. Just don't do it cause you'll regret it for the rest of your life..."

Kyle frowned, "Is everything alright?" After what she said next, he shifted and put his hands in his pockets. "Why? What makes you say that?"

Ashi gave a half-shrug, seeming sad but also just very lazy of it. Or maybe weary was the better description of it. "Things like the stuff that's happened to me... It haunts you. You think and you hope it might go away one day. And then it doesn't." She looked up at him now as she sat there. "Be smart. Don't get involved. Or you'll end up loving someone you can never have again and hating someone you can never touch..."

Alright... Kyle was officially confused. He wished he spent less time being confused during their conversations. "Wanna talk about it?" He suggested. "Does it have to do with your ex-boyfriend...?" He hoped he wasn't crossing a line by asking, but she seemed genuinely distraught. He knew she had dated a guy who used to be part of their group a long time ago, but she never divulged any other details and he'd never pressed her, it seemed to make her uncomfortable. He assumed that the guy had broken up with her and left.

"I don't think I would... call him an 'ex'..." She said. "More like... 'stolen'..." Now the sadness in her eyes began to look a little bit more like anger. But poor Kyle would still be confused. She'd need to start from the beginning if he was going to get any of this...

Her previous boyfriend was... kidnapped..? He sat down. "..Do you want to talk about it? I don't know what you mean, so..."

Ashi sighed. "I guess I'm surprised you haven't gotten it out of me by this point," she gave a small chuckle at the notion. "It's a long story..."
"You know Noah. Well. He used to be... different. About 5 years ago now. Just a young and naive Light Human. Always happy. Always hopeful...
And I loved him..."

"..Oh." Noah... he lived here, with them. So, he was her ex-boyfriend..? Kyle had never really interacted with the guy much, but he never saw him and Ashi near each other, come to think of it. "So you two dated?"

Ashi shook her head solemnly. "Quite the contrary... My love for him was a secret for 5 years, or so I thought, at least... I love him in secret for so long. I wanted to tell him, but I was too afraid of rejection. We were close friends. I didn't want to risk that." She paused. "Then one day, we got a new member to our group..."
She was paraphrasing some parts a great deal. Kyle really didn't need to know that Cyrus was technically like their prisoner at first, after all...

"..I see." Kyle said, assuming she would explain. "So, Noah didn't reciprocate, and you and the new recruit fell in love?" He was impressed she had kept her feelings a secret for five years.. He was only going on one year, after all. He couldn't imagine loving someone for five years..

"You're on the right track, actually," Ashi responded. "Me and the new recruit, Cyrus, we became friends right away. I even told him about my love for Noah. He suggested I tell him... So I did... But... He didn't quite reject me. But he didn't quite accept me either. At least, not in the way I was expecting... He sort of told me... To just wait... Needless to say that confused me."

Kyle definitely looked confused, but then seemed to understand. After all, he was familiar with this Terra's customs. "Hmm.. It seems a little hasty of Cyrus to advise that, but Noah probably could have been less... Vague." He had no idea where this was going now. "I take it you weren't used to how "slow-paced" things are here? I've uh, heard that other Terras are more promiscuous."

Ashi looked at Kyle with a -___-# face and then grunted a bit. "Well for heaven's sake I wouldn't say promiscuous, geez! Anyway, how was I supposed to know everything about courtship and marriage and dating - or lack thereof when it comes to dating - when I was born on a different terra!? I mean they knew that, after all... But. I mean I guess we both made assumptions..." She sighed. "To me, it felt like he was just trying to put it off. Like he wasn't actually interested... So. Well, I became very confused and frustrated. Even a little him angry."

"Woah," Kyle said, raising his hands in defense. "I only meant that there are culture differences!" He chuckled at how offended she'd gotten. "But no you're right, why didn't Cyrus just fill you in then?"

"Well, actually, Cyrus was also from a different terra. One that, I guess, operates similar to how my did." Kyle may or may not notice the change of tenses Ashi did there. "But then one day me and Cyrus decided to go and visit my old terra for, er, reasons, and it ended up turning into a pretty big to-do. Apparently, that was the time that Cyrus realized that he'd fallen for me...
"Later the same day. Well, he up and told me. I kissed him. On impulse. It was my first real kiss. And I just remember my heart... bursting to life!" Her eyes were glazed over at seeing her memories in her mind's eye. She shook her head and sighed, closing her eyes. "Yes, Kyle. Me and the new recruit fell in love..."

"Yes I remember that story.. Wow. That certainly was.. Timing." What a shock! Someone really ought to have informed those two on the customs here..
He averted his eyes as she started describing how in love she was. It was a little uncomfortable for him, both because it was a little scandalous and he didn't really enjoy imagining her being in love with someone else, especially since she still kind of looked in love with him..
