The magic system we have here on our fine World Saver's RP is one that has had many scratching their heads and going, "Huh?" I'm afraid that I still get this response from even the senior members.
We have quite a variety of magic types, which we just simply deem, Powers. Some types of Power are as follows, but are definitely not limited to: Fire, Water, Earth, Storm (which, is wind and lighting), Light, Darkness... And many others. There isn't really a triangle of weaknesses, but I will include a type match-up chart of sorts later on.
Certain Powers have levels. You might note that Light, for instance, has four. Level one Light isn't too potent, and is the color white. Level two is slightly stronger, and blue. Level three is Prism, and very potent. Finally, level four is Gold, and the most potent. It's up to you if you want to make something that follows this pattern, just be aware that if you pick a power that someone else has, you have to follow the rules that the person put in place. An example: Yamiken, Ralph's character, uses Darkness, but Neon, Mike's character, used it first. If Ralph wants to don something new with Darkness, he MUST contact Mike first and get permission.
Here is a list of people you must contact if you choose his/her power:
Light and Void (and chunk of other things. Just ask.) - Caleb(me).
Darkness - Michael.
Shadow - Daniel.
Time, Storm, and Love - Wendy.
Fire - Ethan.
Water and Ice - Raphael.
Dragonfire and the non-Demon use of Crystal - Steven.
Cat Demon - Melanie
Hex Demon - Caleb and Wendy.
Note: Any power not mentioned means you need to talk to me. The ones I listed for myself are the ones I find most important. Once you are assigned one for yourself, you are in charge of it and will be added to the list.
When battling with magic, you might want to Prep Post. Prep posting is when you charge energy up to unleash a stronger attack than the base power of one post. To do this, you have to charge over a series of posts. For example: If you're on your third post of charging, and you think you should charge for five, you should put this [3/5] at the end of your post, in brackets, of course. Do keep in mind that if someone hits you during prep, then you lose the charge and have to start over. If you want to avoid losing the whole charge, unleash it early before the charge would be destroyed. Oh...unless you're using Void. Best not to fire off unstable Void. We still don't know what happened to that one city...
In the interest of being fair, you can't just start your character out with knowing all of the most powerful attacks, and spells, armor, etc. Our little RP is a place to grow... To have your character start small, and get big. Now this rule is thrown out the window if you're introducing a bad guy, and it happens to be your arc. Obviously, the bad guy is going to be strong, otherwise he wouldn't be there in the first place.
Here's some type match ups to look out for:
Fire beats Ice.
Fire beats Steel.
Ice beats Water.
Ice beats Blood.
Water and Fire will cancel each other out.
Earth and Storm will cancel each other out.
Light and Darkness do not cancel, they produce Void.
Light and Darkness are weak against each other, if you aren't combining.
Void and Void cancel each other out.
Void and Void are weak against each other, if you aren't combining.
Shadow (Phantom for Demons) does not affect Void, unless the it is equal. If the Power is equal, then you will most likely tear a hole in the space-time continuum.
Light, Fire, and Earth are not good against one another.
Darkness, Water, and Storm are not good against one another.
Time and Dimension cancel each other out.
Love and Hate cancel each other out.
Death beats Light, Darkness, and Void.
Lunar and Death cancel each other out.
Cat Demons are... immune to most... Ask Melanie if you're unsure. ^^;
Aura and Power (Both are Demon Powers) cancel each other out.
Slime is immune to Electricity (Part of Storm), and can switch shields to be either immune to Ice or Fire.
Wolf is generic.
Curse (or Hex) is like Void and can cancel itself out.
The Sol Demon is off-limits because there is only one.
All are other elements are available for use. However, since some of specific back-stories attached to them, it may be wise to contact the creator of that element before using it with a character to avoid contradictions and misunderstandings.
